I held my phone in my hand and stared at it as I looked at the message Jonathan sent me. Thinking about our minor contact gave me chills, as I thought about his smile. I didn’t want to go down a rapper road. I knew he wouldn’t be able to handle my past. However, he finding me on Facebook really spoke volumes.

I decided to text him. Once I was done, I threw my phone on my bed and went into the bathroom to clean up. I then went into Samantha’s room and watched her as she slept. Samantha had really changed my life. I was totally different than before.

I wish Angel and I could build a real friendship now that I was no longer envious of her, because she really was a good person. I know she would never trust me and Ghost wouldn’t either, which I understood. Since Sammie was asleep, I went into my room and checked my phone. I had a text from Jonathan.

Jonathan- Hey Shawty

Marissa- Hi

Jonathan- Our conversation started great then took a turn I am sorry about that

Marissa- It’s okay

Jonathan- Can we meet up later?

Marissa- That’s fine

Before I could finish texting he called me.

“Hello?”

“Hey Marissa. I figured we could meet up at Mr. Chow,” Jonathan said.

“That’s fine by me. How does seven sound?”

“Sounds good, see you later,” he said hanging up.

Butterflies got the best of me as I began smiling like a young school girl. I fixed breakfast and got Samantha up. We ate and relaxed all day as the time slowly went by. I was past anxious for my date.

A girl I knew name Nyla agreed to watch Samantha. I was hoping she arrived a little early so I could get ready. I turned on the radio and Jonathan’s song was playing. Well he went by Doughboy. His song was cool, but it was real West Coast and I really wasn’t in to that whole vibe. I placed Samantha in the middle of my bed with her iPad as I took a quick shower.

I wanted to look relaxed but be cute as well. I didn’t want to seem like I was one of those prissy chicks who couldn’t dress down. I chose a simple pair of jeans, and a baby doll shirt with a blue blazer. On my feet was a pair of multicolored peep-toe wedges. I put my hair in a high stylish bun, with diamond studs, and accessorized my wrist with a diamond bracelet.

I decided to go natural so the only makeup I had on was mascara, and I chose a nude lip tint. I looked in the mirror pleased with my look. Samantha’s voice caught my attention.

“Mama cute,” she said smiling.

“Thank you, baby,” I said, kissing on her cheek as the doorbell rang.

I allowed Samantha to get down. As her little feet hit the ground, she took off running towards the door. I opened it and let Nyla in.

“Thanks Ny, I really appreciate it.”

“Girl, no problem. We have to help each other out,” she said smiling.
